This project on Rua da Lapa, Lisbon, was a transformative intervention aimed at elevating the space to its full potential, correcting previous design decisions that did not do justice to its inherent grandeur. The generous ceiling height became a guiding principle, leading us to redefine door proportions — previously constrained by standard measurements — to enhance the sense of fluidity and grandeur.
A strategic layout reconfiguration ensured a more harmonious organization of spaces, perfectly adapted to the owners' lifestyle. Every element of bespoke carpentry, from bathrooms and walk-in closets to wood-panelled walls, was meticulously designed by our atelier and crafted in Portugal, creating a cohesive and inviting aesthetic.
Art curation played a pivotal role in shaping the identity of this project, reflecting both the atelier’s vision and the sophisticated passion of the homeowners — erudite collectors with a deep appreciation for cultural narratives. Each selected piece integrates seamlessly with the architecture and interior design, reinforcing the expressive nature of the residence.
Additionally, the walls were enriched with handcrafted plaster moldings, created using traditional techniques yet reinterpreted through a contemporary lens. These details add depth and distinction, further enhancing the apartment’s character and sophistication.
This project embodies the essence of our atelier: a harmonious balance between architecture, design, and art, where tradition and modernity converge effortlessly — resulting in a refined and timeless environment.
